“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” - Buddha
There is a Buddhist figure, Achalanatha, who stands firm in the heat of a fire, with a sword of truth to cut through delusion, and a chain to remind him to hold true to the Precepts, the Buddhist principles for good living.
I find him inspiring when I sit with clients who are feeling the heat of life circumstances. Standing firm, staying with whatever it brings up for us, daring to look and to truly see, these are important aspects of both therapy and of life.
What are your personal principles that you want to hold firm to, even when the going gets tough?
